"For logistics service providers in the automotive market, the business is becoming increasingly demanding. They are expanding their own vertical integration by also taking over the sequencing of modules from automotive suppliers - sometimes with very complex assembly requirements," says Sebastian Glückert, Managing Director at nemetris.
With our JIS system, we as an industrial software specialist have been supporting automotive suppliers and logistics service providers in meeting the requirements of OEMs for years. Now we are also offering our technology as a software-as-a-service model. Therewith, we are responding to the new challenges in the industry resulting from the need for ever shorter time-to-market and increasing flexibility, which represent a new opportunity for logistics providers in particular.
"Until now, there have been no suitable cloud-based offerings for JIS systems on the market that are tailored to the special situation of the logistics industry. We have changed that with our SaaS offering." A central aspect here is the operating model of the software, which can be provided via a private cloud as well as a public cloud. This is because it eliminates high investment costs for local IT infrastructure for users. As already established with conventional SaaS models, they only pay for the use of the system. The simple scalability and secure high availability of the cloud JIS system are further advantages. In addition, the JIS system can be deployed very quickly and is available globally. These are all important factors for future business success in the very dynamic and highly competitive automotive market.
Functionally, the software covers all JIS processes that are typically relevant for logistics companies: from incoming goods and warehouse logistics to assembly, shipping and outgoing goods. Furthermore, the system also meets EDI and traceability requirements. Especially for the EDI connection to OEMs or suppliers, we provide a EDI manager that can handle the complete communication. Of course, it is also possible for clients to use their own established EDI systems. The JIS system is ideally prepared for this. Sebastian Glückert: "We have already implemented our new JIS system from the cloud as part of a project at a logistics service provider in South Africa. The company had to take over the module sequencing for four well-known suppliers at a new location in a very short time. With the cloud solution, we were able to reduce the provisioning time significantly. And at very attractive activation costs. Above all, the certainty of overcoming the time challenge represented significant competitive advantages for the company."
